I remember living in Florence
Road, before moving to Suffolk in 1968.
I remember Cottis the bakers. We used to go round the back and get a
paperbag with cream in for a few pence. I also remember Pepperells newsagents.
As a child, my sisters and I used to slide down the white steps near the
railway waiting for dad to come home from work on the train. We used to walk to the rec and
spend all day there in the little pool.
We used to get the train to West Horndon where dad worked, at Neat Castings
(Howard Rotovator), every Christmas and go to a party for the employees children that they had
each year.
