Comments: Hi folks, great site, a real memory lane. Are there any Pupils from pre 1964 that attended Laindon high road, (and can still see to type!). Excellant to see the young ones Having a reunion, it would be good to catch up with a few of the seniors!! Terry Stolworthy, Joe Borowski and any of the other Lads and Lassies from Alan Bears class of sixty three.

All the best from down under.

Comments: Great site. As a former resident from Laindon (namely Handley Green within the infamous Alcatraz Estate) and after spending 25 years there before moving away earlier this year, its nice to see a webpage dedicated to the history of the area where I grew up in.

Well done :)

Comments: Born 1956 London.
Lived in Collingwood Road from about 1959 until I married in 1977 and moved to Canvey and onwards. I was a Telephone Maintenance man in Basildon from about 1977-1987. I must have been in a lot of houses and just about every shop and business in Basildon during that time.
Your site is fascinating (especially the 1949 map). The shops info certainly jogs the memory.
Good luck - keep developing.
