Other points of interest:

1) Most of Rectory Road was lost to the Ford Tractor Plant which opened in 1964. A short section off Pipps Hill Road South was renamed Pipps Hill Close and diverted into Cranes Farm Road but this has now been built over in the creation of Festival Leisure Park. The remaining section at the other end, leading from Gardiners Lane South to Basildon United's football ground, is now called Gardiners Close.
