| 01. Edwards Family of Laindon |
Posted by Ian Gardner on 7/7/2019, 3:39 am
Hi, I am trying to place my wives family in the Laindon district during the period 1920 to 1938.
Her father Richard Henry Edwards D.O.B. 22 Dec'20, spoke of growing up here and of fond memories of keeping chickens. His parents were Richard Edwards D.O.B.
18 Dec 1894 and Maud Ethel (previously Drake) D.O.B. 28 Sept 1893.
If anyone has access to the Voters List for that period please check it out for me.
Thank you in advance for you time & effort.
Kind regards.....Ian Gardner

I think it may have been Terry Irving - his family lived opposite to us in Whitmore Way.
Russ are you related to Dave Oakley who moved to Australia?

Hi Russ - (sorry off topic!) I found a post by Dave back in 2012 about his time working at the Wrenn factory. I emailed him to say that someone is compiling a feature about
the factory and wondered if he'd be interested to share his experience of working there. Unfortunately his email address at @adam.com.eu no longer seems to be
active - email couldn't be delivered.
Regards Don

Hi, does anyone know the photographer who took the photograph of Pitsea war memorial that's shown on the basildon page?
Thanks in advance

If your referring to the black and white one on the 'Pitsea War Memorial' page, it's from a commercial postcard without any
details as to who might have taken it.

Came across an old photo of the winning team from the 62-63 season. It shows myself, Diver, Barham, Steel, Duncan, West, McQueen, Hucker, May, Houchin and
Card.
Anyone out there remember these names?
The club, in those days was run by Charlie West and Mr Diver. Both their sons played in the team

I remember those names well as I played against them for Spenders Boys Club which later merged with others to form Basildon Boys Club.

Hi there, do you know of any of those names that are still around? Most lived within the Whitmore Way area near Holy Cross.
